EXAMS
A dental examination involves visual, tactile and radiographic findings that could lead to a diagnosis of cavities, gum disease, Malocclusion of the teeth, TMJ Disorder, orofacial pain or any pathology related to the mouth.
ORAL CANCER SCREENING
This crucial step of a dental examination involves examining the mouth for suspicious lesions that may need to be biopsied and verified by a laboratory. Smoking and consuming alcohol increase the risk of developing precancerous and cancerous lesions of the mouth.
CLEANINGS
Also known as Dental Prophylaxis, a cleaning is the staple of every dental check up. A cleaning is recommended every 3, 4 or 6 months depending on the patient’s level of risk for cavities and gum disease.
DEEP CLEANINGS
Also known as Scaling and Root Planing, this procedure is indicated to treat gum disease, also known as Periodontal Disease. This procedure is similar to a regular cleaning but involves the use of local anesthesia so as to adequately clean the root surface of the teeth.
